NHS Education for Scotland recruited 11 young people from across Scotland to provide ongoing input into the development of education for staff working with children and young people.

A Cancer Focus Group, comprising patients and carers, conceived, wrote and produced a support booklet for patients newly diagnosed with cancer. This idea is being adapted across the country.

Through questionnaires and multi-agency public events, older people were consulted on and made more aware of the health, community and voluntary services available to them in a rural area of Perth and Kinross.

Individual and group storytelling sessions enabled black and minority ethnic people to share their experiences of stigma, discrimination and resilience toward mental health problems within their communities.

Open Door supports adults with additional support needs to become involved in volunteering in their community, thus raising their confidence and self-esteem and aiding their recovery.

A standard procedure has been developed for handling comments and suggestions received from patients and the public. Responses and outcomes are reported back to the individual and also publicly through flyers, newsletters and the Board's website.
