The Tuck into Activity Programme originated from Community Planning Groups in Cumbernauld in June 2005. By offering nutrition, lifestyle and health education in six primary schools it tackled childhood obesity through social inclusion.

A focus group from Help the Aged was consulted about a new NHS 24 booklet for older people. The group suggested a number of changes, such as including more community languages.

The Health Spot is a ‘drop-in’ service set up for young people aged between 12–21 years from socially deprived areas. The young people are involved with designing, planning and delivering this service.

NHS staff consulted local groups from the start in choosing where to locate a new rehabilitation unit. By holding small informal meetings with trusted staff (not managers!) local people's concerns were listened to and addressed.
