The NHS and local authorities worked together to organise an event for vulnerable and hard-to-reach young people which showcased the services available to them, and encouraged them to get involved in making decisions about future services.

Eight young people visited Canada to learn about the design of age-appropriate services at two leading hospitals. This helped them in planning the design of the New Children’s Hospital in Glasgow. They also made links with Canadian Youth Councils.

Six sessional workers were recruited to gather feedback from gay men in the West of Scotland about the quality, accessibility and appropriateness of local sexual health services for gay men.

Eleven members of the public identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender attended clinics and gave feedback on the service they had received. Their comments have informed an audit of sexual health services in Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

A multi-sector working group established a Youth Health Forum to give children and young people a voice in shaping local health services. A DVD of young people's views is now being used at staff training sessions.
